The Museum of Surrey is a free local venue that features an ever-changing and dynamic display of art, history, and culture. The Surrey Museum was founded in 1975. The museum's first officers were Jack Berry, the past president and vice president. Others on the board included Wayne Desrochers, Eleanor Craig, Lester Kneeland, Vaida Singmaster, and Les Eggleton. The Society has continued to grow, and the Museum's collections have expanded since then. The Surrey Museum is proud of its history and the artifacts it has preserved.

A long-time Curator of the Museum of Surrey wanted to set up a historical society and gain access to grant funds outside of the Municipality. The Society's mandate was to study Surrey's history and preserve its heritage sites. The Society was instrumental in publishing the book, The Surrey Story. And to celebrate the new organization, the Friends of the Surrey Museum and Archives Society formed a board to provide guidance and direction in all aspects of the organization.

Currently, the Museum of Surrey has two special exhibitions that you shouldn't miss: Untangling Textiles and Body Language. Both feature textiles, and include authentic Indian Chakras, which Gandhi used to spin raw cotton into yarn. Moreover, you can also find real silk cocoons.
